New Jersey Extended Forecast

Wave heights across the New Jersey coast run 0.9ft to 3.9ft over the coming week. The best day is Sunday in Ocean — the only day that rates as fair. Each town below has its own forecast, hour by hour.

Scores are conditions right now, out of 100. Each spot's page also scores every day's best three-hour window.

Monmouth County

The northern stretch, from the Sandy Hook peninsula down to Manasquan Inlet. Groins and jetties shape most of these beaches, so sandbars hold their form and neighbouring towns can break very differently on the same swell.

Ocean County

Point Pleasant Beach down the barrier island through Seaside and the length of Long Beach Island. Long, exposed sand beaches that pick up more open swell than anywhere else in the state, with inlet jetties at either end.

Atlantic County

Brigantine through Absecon Island. The coast starts angling west here, which shades these beaches from due-north wind swell and makes them lean more on groundswell from the east and southeast.

Cape May County

Ocean City down to Cape May Point, the southernmost and most sheltered stretch of the shore. The southwest-facing angle cuts down swell size but also cleans things up when a north wind is blowing out the rest of the state.

Where the numbers come from

Wave height, swell period, swell direction and sea surface temperature come from the Open-Meteo Marine forecast. Wind, air temperature and UV come from the Open-Meteo weather model. Tide times are NOAA CO-OPS predictions from the closest ocean-facing station to each town, and live measured conditions come from the nearest NDBC offshore buoy. Every source is free and public, which is how New Jersey Bodyboarding Club keeps these pages open to everyone.
